How to Bring an Old Antique Chair back to Life!

I see these types of chairs all the time at my local thrift store and on Wednesday they are half off bringing it down to a whopping 5 bucks a chair!

The thing that I find interesting is that they NEVER have any cushioning on them……I mean did they just not NEED a soft seat back then?  Did it make them sit up straighter???  Maybe that’s it??



I like to relax and slouch in a chair I guess so I need LOTS of cushioning……:-)

I always just lightly sand off or wipe down the blemishes and use my trusty stain pen on scratches.  It totally does the trick for what I need.

Shop a new "vintage" desk or paint an old vintage desk?!  Do you guys like entering giveaways?  I'll enter a few because wouldn’t it be fun to win?? I finally did win something lol. Make Large Canvas Wall Art Out of An Old Map

One of my favorite things about thrift store decorating is finding something unexpected and giving it a new life. When I came across an old vintage map, I immediately saw the potential for unique wall art. Instead of leaving it tucked away, I cut it into sections and mounted it onto canvases to create a custom piece full of character and history. If you love decorating with vintage finds and creating budget-friendly home decor, this simple DIY project might inspire your next thrift store makeover. I had previously picked up an old slightly laminated MAP from the same thrift store for a few dollars. I began to wonder what I could do with my map???? Tick tock, tick tock, my creative juices were coming……. I went to Michaels and picked up a bunch of canvases at 40% off.  I traced around the canvas and cut out each rectangle.  The overall map size was 31”x 50”.  The smaller canvases I bought were 8x10 and the larger were 16x20.  (I have commission links at the end...

Pottery Barn Knockoff–Distressed Clock Decor

Ahhhhhh Pottery Barn.  The gorgeous pictures, the higher price tags.  If only we could re-create for less everything we see in that magazine.  Well today’s post will give that a try  – Pottery Barn for under $10.00.  (If you choose to purchase some of the highlighted supplies, I may make a small commission at no extra cost to you🙂)  Pottery Barn decoritive large clock. When I was at the thrift store I spotted this lonely round board.  It was almost 2 feet around, insanely heavy and covered in laminate but I thought hummmm……this has some CLOCK potential!  So I bought it for a whopping $1.50.
