Here are a few tips when it comes to decorating tops of cabinets or even tops of decorative tables.

1.) Do lots of layering, especially with the heights. PAIR up items; rarely would I leave a single decor item by itself. Either use 2 or 3 pieces and be sure each one is a different height. Don't equally space each decor item by themselves.

2.) Think about how your eye would travel. You want your eye to do a circle. It's interesting how decorating is just like taking a good picture. If you can take a good picture, I promise you can decorate well too!

3.) Greenery adds so much! It softens the edges. Keep your eye out at thrift stores or use that 40% off Michael's coupon to buy yourself some greenery! Add the greenery in spots that have a lot of hard texture around them so it can be softened up.

Shop a new "vintage" desk or paint an old vintage desk?!  Do you guys like entering giveaways?  I'll enter a few because wouldn’t it be fun to win?? I finally did win something lol. Make Large Canvas Wall Art Out of An Old Map

One of my favorite things about thrift store decorating is finding something unexpected and giving it a new life. When I came across an old vintage map, I immediately saw the potential for unique wall art. Instead of leaving it tucked away, I cut it into sections and mounted it onto canvases to create a custom piece full of character and history. If you love decorating with vintage finds and creating budget-friendly home decor, this simple DIY project might inspire your next thrift store makeover. I had previously picked up an old slightly laminated MAP from the same thrift store for a few dollars. I began to wonder what I could do with my map???? Tick tock, tick tock, my creative juices were coming……. I went to Michaels and picked up a bunch of canvases at 40% off.  I traced around the canvas and cut out each rectangle.  The overall map size was 31”x 50”.  The smaller canvases I bought were 8x10 and the larger were 16x20.  (I have commission links at the end...

Pottery Barn Knockoff–Distressed Clock Decor

Ahhhhhh Pottery Barn.  The gorgeous pictures, the higher price tags.  If only we could re-create for less everything we see in that magazine.  Well today’s post will give that a try  – Pottery Barn for under $10.00.  (If you choose to purchase some of the highlighted supplies, I may make a small commission at no extra cost to you🙂)  Pottery Barn decoritive large clock. When I was at the thrift store I spotted this lonely round board.  It was almost 2 feet around, insanely heavy and covered in laminate but I thought hummmm……this has some CLOCK potential!  So I bought it for a whopping $1.50.
