Use Google Lens to find the best prices on home decor and furniture.

If you have not used Google Lens to figure out the best price on all of your home furnishing purchases, I have a very detailed post on how to use Goggle Lens.   For those that has discovered Google Lens, congratulations on saving thousands of dollars! Below are my top tips for getting the most out of the technology!



Here are my 5 Google Lens Tips for Furniture Shopping

1. The obvious, compare prices at multiple retailers.

Don't buy the first one you find. Use Google Lens to compare the same item at least four different retailers. You'd be amazed how much prices can vary.

2. Circle the exact item in your photo.

If there are several pieces of furniture in the picture, crop the image so Google Lens focuses only on the item you're trying to find.

3. Read the reviews.

The cheapest price isn't always the best deal. Make sure you're buying from a reputable retailer and take a few minutes to read customer reviews.

4. Search inspiration photos.

You don't have to photograph furniture in person. Use photos from Pinterest, magazines, or your favorite design websites to discover where pieces can be purchased.

5. Don't give up after the first search.

Click through several results. Sometimes clearance, open-box, or sale listings don't show up until you dig a little deeper. Sometimes I actually recircles the item and I get different listings that show up. You really do need to dig a Little Deeper if you're not finding what you want.

Make Large Canvas Wall Art Out of An Old Map

One of my favorite things about thrift store decorating is finding something unexpected and giving it a new life. When I came across an old vintage map, I immediately saw the potential for unique wall art. Instead of leaving it tucked away, I cut it into sections and mounted it onto canvases to create a custom piece full of character and history. If you love decorating with vintage finds and creating budget-friendly home decor, this simple DIY project might inspire your next thrift store makeover. I had previously picked up an old slightly laminated MAP from the same thrift store for a few dollars. I began to wonder what I could do with my map???? Pottery Barn Knockoff–Distressed Clock Decor

Ahhhhhh Pottery Barn.  The gorgeous pictures, the GIANT price tags.  If only we could re-create for less everything we see in that magazine.  Well today’s post will give that a try  – Pottery Barn for under $10.00.  Yep, that’s right, this next project cost me around 6 bucks.  When I was at the thrift store I spotted this lonely round board.  It was almost 2 feet around, insanely heavy and covered in laminate but I thought hummmm……this has some CLOCK potential!  So I bought it for a whopping $1.50. Here is the lovely BEFORE picture: And here is the AFTER: Now how I got there.  :-) First I distressed the plastic and wood by sawing the edges, hammering the center, and quickly sanding the entire circle.  I didn’t spend a lot of time doing this because I had another idea to help with the distressing which you’ll see in the next few steps.
